Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and [OWNER: legal entity name] ("Cokoon", "we", "us") about using the Cokoon app and website. By using Cokoon you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cokoon is
Cokoon is a private shared space for two people: an illustrated home, a pet you look after together, moods, notes, activities, drawings, photos and memories. Cokoon is for fun and connection. It isn't therapy, counseling or a safety service, and we make no promise about its effect on your relationship.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least [OWNER: minimum age, e.g. 18] and able to agree to these terms. Only pair with someone who wants to share a home with you.
3. Your account and your device
- Cokoon has no sign-up. The app creates a private key on your phone, and that key opens your home.
- You're responsible for your phone and what happens in the app on it.
- If you lose your phone, switch to a new one, or the app's data is cleared, you may lose access to your home, and we can't restore it. Your partner keeps the shared home. We don't offer backup or recovery of your access.
4. Your content
- What you create in Cokoon—notes, answers, drawings, photos, captions—stays yours.
- You give us a limited permission to store, copy and display it, only to run Cokoon for you and your partner. This ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law.
- Your partner can see what you share in your home and may save it or take screenshots. Copies they've downloaded can't be recalled.
- Only share content you have the right to share. Don't use Cokoon to harass, threaten or harm anyone, to share illegal content, or to share images of someone without their consent.
5. Fair use
Don't try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get unauthorized access to Cokoon or anyone's home, and don't use it for anything illegal. We may limit or suspend access if we reasonably believe these terms are being broken.
6. Cokoon Plus (auto-renewing subscription)
Cokoon is free to use. Cokoon Plus is an optional subscription that adds every premium home theme, for all three rooms, while it's active.
- Plans: Cokoon Plus Monthly, US$5.99 per month, or Cokoon Plus Yearly, US$39.99 per year. The App Store shows the exact price in your local currency before you buy. There's no free trial.
- One subscription per couple: when one partner subscribes, both partners in that home get Plus. Only the partner who bought it can manage or cancel it.
- Payment: payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
- Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing and cancelling: manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or from the App Store. Cancelling stops future renewals; Plus stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds: purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue App Store refunds ourselves.
- Price changes: if the price changes, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree before you're charged the new price.
- Restoring: if you reinstall the app on a device signed in with the same Apple ID, use Restore purchases in the app.
- If you disconnect: the partner who subscribed keeps Plus; the other partner's included Plus ends.
7. Stars and items
Stars are earned by finishing activities together and can be spent on toys, furniture and themes in your home. Stars have no cash value, can't be bought, sold or transferred, and aren't moved to a new home if you disconnect.
8. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Cokoon or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and isn't responsible for any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; if anything here conflicts with it, these terms apply to the extent the law allows.
9. Changes and availability
We may improve, change or stop parts of Cokoon. We'll try to keep it available, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we ever shut Cokoon down, we'll give reasonable notice in the app.
10. Ending
You can stop using Cokoon at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
11. Disclaimers and liability
Cokoon is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties and aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of content or access (including from a lost or replaced phone). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited. [OWNER: liability cap wording, reviewed by counsel]
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [OWNER: governing law / jurisdiction], without affecting mandatory consumer protections where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before they apply. Continuing to use Cokoon after that means you accept the new terms.
